IIT Kanpur joins hands with KGMU Lucknow, launches SIB-SHInE program

IIT Kanpur and KGMU Lucknow have recently launched a fellowship program titled the School of International Biodesign - Synergizing Healthcare Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program or the SIB-SHInE program. After IIT Delhi and AIIMS Delhi, IIT Kanpur and KGMU Lucknow have come together as the second set of institutes to launch this fellowship program.

The SIB-SHInE program is sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. This is a one-year, full-time residential fellowship program with the aim of providing a platform for the next generation of biomedical entrepreneurs. The platform will help them grow and further their expertise.

Biological Sciences and Bioengineering Department, IIT Kanpur, and Faculty-in-charge, SIB SHInE, Prof. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, said, “The SIB-SHInE program of IIT Kanpur and KGMU can potentially change the way medical devices enter our hospitals.”

The eligibility for the program is as follows-

  • The applicants should have a graduate or postgraduate degree in Medicine (including BDS), Biomedical Instrumentation, Engineering, Product/Industrial design, and Business Administration.

  • Candidates must commit to devoting a full year (12 months full-time) to the program, which will involve traveling to partner Institutions/Universities.
