The on-going work on the new civil terminal of Kanpur Airport, or the Chakeri Air Force Station, is nearing completion, with other developments in full swing. Work on the taxi-way leading to the runway is also slated to conclude within a week.

A Night Landing Facility (NLF), to facilitate smooth landing of flights at lower visibility, will also be installed at the airport. With this, the establishment of an Instrumental Landing System (ILS), that will expedite aircraft to land at night or during difficult weather conditions, is expected to be completed by February. The construction of logistical developments like the food court and other passenger amenities is underway, too.

Check out, in updated pictures, the progress on the civil terminal which is anticipated to be finished by December end:

To be inaugurated by January 2023

The order of construction work on the Kanpur Air Terminal was issued in October of 2019 and was slated to be completed in around 16 months. However, due to the pandemic, the work stayed on an anvil. It restarted thereafter and keeping the current progress in mind, the brand new terminal is expected to be inaugurated during the last week of December or in the first week of January 2023.
