25 e-buses begin operations on 10 routes in Kanpur today

Kanpur district transport agency flagged off the operations of 25 e-buses in the city today. These buses will ply on 10 different routes in the city. The fares have been marked even lower than tempo services wherein passengers will be charged only ₹5 for the first 3 km and a maximum of ₹50 for a 45 km journey, read reports.

Routes & timings fixed

Besides fixing the bus fares, the district transport agency has also branched the e-bus consigment into various fleets to run across the 10 charted routes. As per this schedule, 11 buses will run from Sanjeev Nagar to IIT Kanpur, covering a distance of 23 km in its wake. Each bus will shuttle10 services during its run in the day. The first bus will depart from Sanjeev Nagar at 5:10 while the last bus will operate from IIT Kanpur terminus at 8:43 PM.

The bus will route through Sanjeev Nagar, Ramadevi, Kashiram Hospital, Krishna Nagar, Parachute Mod, Tatmil, Opium Kothi, Zarib Chowki, Kokakola, Rawatpur, Gurudev, Vishwavidyalaya Kalyanpur and IIT, where travellers will be able to hop on new e-buses every 8 minutes.

A fleet of 10 buses will run along a 41-km route between Sanjeev Nagar to Raniya, running 6 services each. Buses on this corridor will be available from 7:10 AM to 9:40 PM, every 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, 7 e-buses have been designated to run between Sanjeev Nagar to Nankari, where every e-bus will run 9 runs through the day. These services will pass through Sanjeev Nagar, Ramadevi, Tatmil, Ghantaghar, Phulbagh, Bada Chauraha, Chunniganj, Motijheel, Rawatpur, Gurudev, Vishwavidyalaya, Kalyanpur, IIT, Nankari, covering a distance of 30 km, one way. The frequency of these buses has been tabled at 40 minutes.

From Sanjeev Nagar to Bithoor, 14 e-buses, running 6 trips each will facilitate zero-pollution travel. Passengers will be able to get a bus on this route from 5:12 AM in the morning to 6:52 PM in the evening, at a frequency of 10 minutes only. People travelling from Sanjeev Nagar, Ramadevi, Harjender Nagar, Jajmau, Circuit House, Heer Palace, Phulbagh, Bada Chauraha, Chunniganj, Motijheel, Rawatpur, Gurudev, Vishwavidyalaya, Kalyanpur, Singhpur, Ishwariganj and Bithoor will benefit from this fleet.

8 buses from Sanjeev Nagar to Ramaipur will run 10 trips within a radius of 25 km. The first and last services of this fleet have been proposed to run at 7:50 AM and 8:25 PM, respectively. People travelling from Sanjeev Nagar, Ramadevi, Tatmil, Ghantaghar, Kidwai Nagar, Baradevi, Naubasta, Mandi Samiti, Madhobagh, Ramaipur will be able to get on these services, at an interval of 20 minutes through the day.

The transport agency has slated a total of 7 buses to ply between Sanjeev Nagar to Sainik Chauraha, each running 20 services throughout the day. All buses will be available at an interval of 15 minutes along the 18 km route, passing through Sanjeev Nagar, Ramadevi, Tatmil, Ghantaghar, Kidwai Nagar, Yashoda Nagar Bypass, Sainik Chauraha

Additionally, plans are underway to launch 15 e-buses along the Sanjeev Nagar Bithoor route, other 7 between Sanjeev Nagar and Rawatpur, along with 8 buses each on the Sanjeev Nagar to Kalyanpur and Ghantaghar corridor. It may be noted that the timetable of these buses is yet to be finalised.

These e-buses will be highly beneficial in reducing the pollution levels in the state and they will also provide relief from noise pollution. The electric buses will even facilitate convenient travel with live tracking options and increase the scope of public transportation in Kanpur.
