Knocksense Shorts | Hailing from Kanpur, Tanya Verma to be a part of UP’s under-17 chess team

As many as 65 players from all over the state were seen in action at UP State U-17 Chess Championship 2023-24 (Girls) 2023 organised by UP Chess Sports Association. Flying with bright colours, Kanpur’s Tanya Verma emerged second in the state-level selection tournament held at Noida Educational Academy between April 14 - 16. Another participant Ananya Srivastava from Kanpur ranked 10th in the competition.

Apart from this, a 7 rounds boys chess tournament was also organised by the state authorities. Taking best players from both, UP’s under-17 chess team now has the following players.

Boys category:

  1. Prithvi Singh (Lkw- 6.5 pts)

  2. Ajay Santosh (Noida 6 pts)

  3. Harshit Singh (Noida - 5.5 pts)

Girls category:

  1. Shubhi Gupta (Ghzb- 5 pts),

  2. Tanya Verma (Knp- 4 pts),

  3. Sanchita Yadav (Prayagraj-3.5 pts).
