Kanpur is setting an example for other cities in the state and across the country with its comprehensive sports infrastructure. The city's indoor multi-sports complex, The Sportz Hub, constructed at Pallika Stadium, has been termed exemplary and even the state's capital Lucknow, along with other cities, have been asked by the UP Chief Secretary to replicate its model to build sports hubs.

What's special about Kanpur's multi-sports complex?

Kanpur's indoor multi-sports complex caters to a range of sports and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Its unique features include:

  • E-Sports Arena

  • Two glass-based courts for squash.

  • Special areas that are accessible for para-athletes.

  • Lighting and flooring that meet international standards.

  • Complete facilities for 22 out of 28 indoor Olympic games.

  • Free training for athletes from economically weaker sections.

  • Ample parking space for up to 300 cars.

  • Solar panels and energy-saving LED lighting.

Seeing The Sportz Hub's green building features to five-star facilities and accommodation for players and officials alike, it is understandable by the UP Chief Secretary has asked 10 big smart cities in the state to follow suit which include Lucknow, Agra, Varanasi, Meerut and Ayodhya among others.
