Knocksense Shorts | Line 1 of Kanpur Metro to be fully operational by November, 2024

Kanpur Metro is an under-construction Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS). Extending from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta, the Orange Line of the Kanpur Metro is a 23.8 km-long corridor consisting of 21 stations. Of this, the stretch from IIT Kanpur to Moti Jheel (8.7 km), is operational. Touted as a Priority Corridor, the stretch was developed under Phase 1 of Orange Line.

Phase 2 of Orange Line, the Standard Corridor is a mix of underground and elevated metro stations. As per reports, the construction of the underground section between Chunniganj and Nayaganj has already started. Also per reports, the Line 1 till Kanpur Central will start operations by February, 2024 and will be fully operational by November, 2024. Once fully functional, Line 1 will connect to high-density areas of Kanpur and reduce vehicular traffic and pollution.
