As winter is continuing to give chills in Kanpur, the city has started to experience a cold wave now, as stated by the Meteorological Department. Due to this, the mercury may go down further with the minimum temperature recorded at 8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. In response to this, Kanpur DM has issued directives to close schools up to class 12. This mandate is applicable uniformly upon all government and private educational institutions. Anyone found not following these directives would be subject to stringent actions.

Considering the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Inauguration, the schools are already scheduled to be closed on January 21-22. Meanwhile, if the weather conditions allow, the schools will finally re-open from January 23.
