With new captains and fresh rules, the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is already in full swing! Whether you’re a seasoned cricket fanatic or a first-time visitor, there’s more to an IPL match than just cheering for LSG. From ticket quirks to what you can (and can’t) bring into Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, we’ve got you covered with some frequently asked questions.
When should I show up for the IPL game?
Plan to arrive fashionably early—the entry gates open about three hours before the match starts. That gives you plenty of time to grab a snack and find your seat.
Do I need to carry my physical ticket?
Each person needs to have their individual physical ticket with them. If that barcode on the ticket is tampered with, or torn or damaged, you’re not getting through the gates. If you haven’t collected or received your ticket yet, you can do so from the nearest box office to you.
Can I go in and out of the stadium during the game?
No, once you are in, you are in! No re-entry once you’ve entered the stadium. You get to roam only in your designated area, no sneaky trips to any other areas.
What should I not bring to the stadium?
The list is long: No bottles, lighters, power-bank, food, flags, banners, fireworks, toxic, illegal or hazardous substances, weapons, bags, motorcycle helmets or anything that could cause a nuisance. Also, if it’s a musical instrument or something likely to annoy your neighbour, it’s a definite no-no.
Can I bring my own booze?
No alcohol. Oh, and no smoking in the stadium.
What if the match gets cancelled? Do I get a refund?
Only if the match is cancelled or abandoned before a single ball is bowled. Once the game’s underway—no refunds.
Do toddlers need a ticket?
Yes, if your little one is over two, they’ll need their own ticket. And if they’re under 18, they must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket, who’ll be looking after them throughout the game.
What if I need wheelchair access?
If you require a wheelchair or any other form of assistance, entry into the stadium will be through Gate No. 5. You’ll be seated in Shyam Steel Lower Block 1 for a comfortable experience.
What are the parking arrangements at Ekana Stadium?
If you have any further questions about anything mentioned above, contact authorities at 63665 27730 (however, the number is often unavailable).
