A 250-km-long six-lane expressway, named Vigyan Path, will be developed to improve regional connectivity and ease congestion in Lucknow. The expressway project, will connect the state capital with Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki, Rae Bareli and Unnao. The Vigyan Path project will be incorporated into the State Capital Region (SCR) plan and is expected to become operational by 2027.

Half the travel time & smoother flow

At present, commuters face long delays due to narrow roads and traffic congestion. Once completed, Vigyan Path will cut travel time to 60–75 minutes from any of the five districts. Heavy vehicles will be redirected to the outer ring route, easing pressure on the city’s main roads.

Further, LDA has proposed 20 development nodes along the expressway, including industrial parks, educational institutions, healthcare centres and commercial hubs.

Tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee

The expressway is named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, drawing inspiration from his slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan.” Officials describe it as a route of science, progress and prosperity.
