To improve connectivity within Lucknow and its surrounding areas, the Northern Railways, Lucknow Division is set to develop a 'Ring Rail' project. Inspired by the success of the Outer Ring Road, which connects city highways, the Ring Rail will enhance transportation around the city.

The project will include 10 new stations within the city limits: Utraitia, Malhaur, Transport Nagar, Manak Nagar, Alam Nagar, Aishbagh, City Station in Daliganj, Badshah Nagar, and Gomti Nagar. Trains from Charbagh will be redirected to these stations, easing congestion at existing railway terminals and reducing noise pollution in central areas.

As a part of this project, track doubling between Utraitia and Transport Nagar has already been completed, allowing train speeds to reach 100 km/h. Additionally, 29 non-premium trains will be rerouted via Utraitia to Transport Nagar, improving operational efficiency.
