Heavy rainfall leaves Lucknow waterlogged yet pleasant weather a silver lining

With the early onset of monsoons, two days of heavy downpour have been observed in Lucknow. Due to incessant rains through the past 24 hours, residents across some major spots in the city have been troubled by the issues of waterlogging. While the city stands equipped with an adequate drainage system, rains coupled with thunderstorms have led to rising water levels on the roads. Local dwellers are finding it difficult to step out due to umpteen obstructions.

Accumulated rainwater hampers vehicular movements in Gomti Nagar

While the pleasant weather of the last two days has brought the much-needed respite from the summer heat, the city folks are now disturbed by a new issue of waterlogging. Across frequented roads and residential colonies, the collected water caused troubles for both the pedestrians and the vehicles. When the residents of Gomti Nagar stepped out in their cars, to enjoy the soothing scenes, clogged streets became an impediment for them.

As per the weather forecasts, light to moderate showers are expected in the city for the next two days. Additionally, certain areas may also experience heavy rains. It is noteworthy that Lucknow marks the early arrival of monsoons for the second year in a row!

Knock Knock

As we move ahead in the 21st century, weather conditions continue to become even more unpredictable amid soaring mercury levels. Thus, it is important to acknowledge the need for preserving our scarce natural resources and rainwater harvesting can be an important step in this direction. While some homes in the city have taken the necessary measures for rainwater conservation, substantial effects can only be seen in the presence of widespread awareness and sustained efforts.
