The King George Medical University (KGMU) of Lucknow has significantly advanced its medical framework, incorporating intricate surgical practices such as robotics-enabled procedures and organ replacement surgeries. In a noteworthy achievement, the orthopaedic department at KGMU recently performed an elbow replacement surgery to address a severe case of arthritis in a patient's elbow.

Prof. Shailendra Singh, an operating surgeon at the orthopaedic department, led the highly intricate and complicated elbow replacement surgery. The procedure, deemed challenging due to the proximity of nerves and arteries around the elbow joint, was completed successfully. The damaged elbow was replaced with a combination of titanium, cobalt, and plastic materials. As a result of the surgery, the 56-year-old patient now uses his elbow with complete mobility.
