Knocksense Shorts | Know all about UP government's subsidy for SC/ST weavers

From silk sarees of Banaras to the globally renowned Chikankari work of Lucknow, the textile industry of Uttar Pradesh has always added its due contribution to the economy as well as the reputation of the state.

Now, with a motive to facilitate the handloom and power loom weavers and to improve their economic and social conditions, the UP government will provide subsidies and technical training to the workers belonging to the Scheduled caste and Scheduled tribe categories. The announcement for the launch of the subsidy – Jhalkari Bai Kori Handloom and Power Loom Development Scheme was done by the UP CM during a high-level meeting.

Under this, the SC/ST weavers of the state will be provided an 80% subsidy while 60% subsidy will be given on the establishment of modern power looms. Furthermore, the government will also provide assistance to the weavers in getting loans from banks.
