The Uttar Pradesh government has now issued stringent guidelines to improve the security and surveillance systems in various prison facilities of the state. This initiative aims to enhance the safety and security of these prisons in Lucknow, Kanpur and other UP districts.

Under this, concerned government authorities will have the access to monitor the CCTV footage of 30 jails on a round-the-clock basis. For this, monitoring systems and CCTV cameras in jails have been upgraded to allow centralized monitoring.
