Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is gearing up for a massive expansion that promises to transform it into a major global hub. Adani Airports has announced an investment of nearly ₹10,000 crore to enhance passenger and cargo capacity, modernise infrastructure, and improve overall travel experience.

Big leap with wider runway & more international links

The airport’s annual passenger capacity will nearly double from 8 million to 14 million by 2026–27, supported by a new terminal and upgraded facilities. On the air side, a parallel taxi track is set to boost air traffic movement from 17 to 24 flights per hour, while a major runway extension from 2,744 m to 3,514 m will enable wide-body aircraft like Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s to operate directly from Lucknow. This could open up non-stop long-haul flights to Europe and the US.

Cargo handling is also set for a big push, with plans to raise capacity to 50,000 metric tonnes in the next five years. Currently connected to 42 non-stop destinations, including 11 international routes, Lucknow airport is poised to become one of India’s most modern and well-connected airports, blending technology, art, and passenger comfort.
