A new initiative of the Lucknow administration aims to pull out the beggars from poverty, assuring them a better life with a decent source of income. As per reports, a survey will be conducted across the city to identify and train beggars to get new employment opportunities. The inspection drive aims to equip people with vocational skills, pulling those who beg on the streets from margins to the mainstream. Reportedly, a budget of ₹3 crores has been further released by the government to also provide shelter home places to the survey beneficiaries.

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has roped in a private agency to run its survey campaign and connect beggars with employment. According to the officials, another team will be responsible to take these people to shelter homes. Arrangements will be made for their boarding and training programmes here, added reports.
The administration, in association with the District Industries and Promotion Center, will soon create a platform for the employment of over 1600 people in Lucknow. Training in different disciplines and vocational skills, zardozi workmanship, chikankari and other things will be given to the people, informed Manoj Chaurasia Deputy Commissioner of District Industries and Promotion Centre.
As per reports, the administration has also received applications for the people who are in need of training. This will help the beggars grab alternative employment opportunities and adopt a better lifestyle.
Ajay Kumar Dwivedi, Municipal Commissioner, told that the tender process has been completed and the survey of beggars will start soon. A special team will be stationed to conduct counselling for all beneficiaries, and encourage them to attend all training sessions.
Ensuring education for child beggars

The scope of this scheme will further stretch to ensure education for children beggars in the city. As per reports, the Municipal Corporation will prepare a report of all such children found near malls, at temples and other prominent areas of the city, through a private agency. After this, the lot and their family will be counselled to motivate parents to send their wards to school.
