Lucknow is set to celebrate its rich artistic heritage at the two-day Gauraiya Sanskriti Mahotsav, beginning today, November 13, at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Park, Amphitheatre. Organised by the Sparrow Institute (Gauraiya Sanskriti Sansthan) along with the Culture Department and the Lucknow Development Authority, the festival features a strong line-up of Indian classical music, folk performances, and cultural dances.
The festival will open with a classical performance by the renowned duo of Padma Bhushan Sajan Mishra and Swaransh Mishra, followed by a musical Krishna Leela and a light music presentation. The second day, November 14, will feature Sanskrit singing by Madhavi Madhukar Jha, folk songs by Radha Srivastava, and a light music presentation by Yamini Pandey. A special highlight will be a dance drama on Putrakameshti Yagna by Sangeeta Ahuja’s group from Ayodhya.
The event will also honour Kathak dancer Aarti Shukla, Arjuna Awardee Sudha Singh, and folk singer Sanjoli Pandey with the Gauraiya Nari Shakti Samman. Key dignitaries including Culture & Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh, Mayor Sushma Kharwal, and Director of Information Vishal Singh will grace the occasion.
