In a significant milestone for Lucknow, a BrahMos Missile manufacturing complex is set to be established in the Sarojini Nagar area. The facility will be inaugurated on May 11, 2025, with the Defence Minister of India slated to attend the ceremony. The upcoming complex will be a key component of the ambitious Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor, an initiative led by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA).

BrahMos, one of India’s most advanced indigenously-produced weapons, is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile capable of being launched from submarines, ships, fighter aircraft and transporter erector launchers (TEL). It is jointly developed by BrahMos Aerospace, a collaboration between the governments of India and Russia. The missile is further exported to allied nations.

The Lucknow facility will initially manufacture 100 missiles, with plans to scale up production to missiles worth ₹900 crore over the next five to seven years.

Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor
The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UP DIC) is a strategic initiative launched in 2018 to bolster India's self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the 'Make in India' campaign. Spanning six key nodes: Agra, Aligarh, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Kanpur, and Lucknow, the corridor aims to reduce dependence on defence imports by fostering indigenous production.
