Lucknow Police cracks down on wrong-way drivers; installs tyre crushers at two locations

Jatin Shewaramani

To address the issue of wrong-side driving, the Lucknow Police has taken proactive measures by installing tyre crushers at two strategic locations: Awadh Crossing in Alambagh and Baikunth Dham Road. These installations aim to deter wrong-way drivers and alleviate traffic disruptions in the city.

Awadh Crossing, Alambagh

Until now, police officials were stationed intermittently along routes to catch drivers going in the wrong direction. This method had significant limitations, as officers couldn't remain at a single location for an extended period. However, the recently installed iron spikes can effectively deter wrong-way driving around the clock.

The tyre crushers were installed this Monday at both locations known for frequent instances of vehicles travelling in the wrong direction. After evaluating their effectiveness at the Awadh Crossing and Baikunth Dham stretch, the Lucknow Traffic Police now plans to install similar deterrents at additional locations throughout the city.
