Moderate Showers on Wednesday morning brought a relief to the people of Lucknow who were on the receiving end of a long humid and sultry heat wave. The rains have calmed down the temperatures in the city and this phenomenon is likely to extend for the next 24 hours. With average day temperatures shuttling between 26 to 29-degree celsius, Lucknow prepares for light showers with thunderstorms on Thursday too.

The Bay of Bengal Branch of the monsoon is picking pace which is likely to bring down very heavy to heavy rains along with thunderstorms in east Uttar Pradesh. An 'orange' alert has been issued for the same on Wednesday and Thursday by the regional met centre based in Lucknow. Centrally located, Lucknow is receiving the short end of this heavy cyclonic activity.

Rains in Lucknow are expected to remain calm and isolated, which suggest pleasant weather in the city, today and tomorrow. Bidding goodbye to the prolonged sultry weather of 3 weeks, Luckowites bask in the glory of these showers which have helped the district to lower temperatures by at least 7 degrees. These showers were needed so as to cover-up the scarce monsoon activity of September which has heightened the rainfall deficit of the Capital to 31%.

Dear Lucknowites, the September rains have finally made an entrance and it is time to indulge in the monsoon festivities of 'chai and pakora' as the last leg of cyclonic rain washes the city, with precautions of course!
