Lucknow Smart City: Underground sewers, new urban services & more to come up in 2022

The Lucknow Smart City scheme is set to gain speed & momentum this fiscal year. Lucknow Divisional Commissioner on Friday announced that a host of projects will be launched in Lucknow by the end of this year. As per reports, the development will begin with the installation of an underground sewer system in the congested lanes of Old Lucknow, followed by several other localities. Plans to launch new urban services and additional green cover are also in the pipeline. Read on to know more:

Robust sewer system in making

Working on a war footing, Smart City Lucknow has already launched the work of laying underground sewerage lines at Rajendranagar locale in the city. The idea is to build a robust structure that leaves no scope of open drains and manholes on the main road. Purportedly, the work has been going for the past four months now, to cover the entire locality and complete the project before the arrival of monsoon.

In addition to this, the Smart City scheme will also focus on creating more green spaces in Lucknow. This too, will help as a flood-controlling agent during the monsoon and help in regulating the temperature conditions during the hotter months, added reports. It may be noted that the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, in the same wake, has already been working on a series of projects to inaugurate new theme parks and open spaces in the city.

Urban Services to improve in Lucknow

Several urban services, be it in the field of cyber-security or e-health care, will additionally see an upgrade in Lucknow. Since most of these will be governed digitally, emphasis on data-security and protection will also see a rise here, highlighted experts.

Digital records and databases are equvivalent to currency, officials added and thus, Lucknow and other growing cities must look at creating cyber-safe environment proactively. For this, digital awareness drives, drives for awareness about cyber offences and prevention should be conducted across all levels of administration.
