Lucknow's SGPGIMS begins new service to save lives of road accident victims

In a bid to provide medical attention to accident victims, the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) will now provide free treatment for the first 24-hours to those injured in road accidents. This service has been enabled at the Apex trauma centre of SGPGI Lucknow under a special government scheme.

Reportedly, an individual who injured his hand during a road accident was the first to benefit from this scheme. He received a successful hand surgery and was not charged any fee for it.

More about the new facility

This facility has been enabled to provide immediate treatment to accident victims. The first 24 hours are quite crucial and accident victims often succumb to injuries in multiple cases due to the lack of immediate medical attention. This is where the new free first 24 hour treatment service by SGPGI comes to the rescue.

As per an SGPGI doctor, the treatment does not require the formalities like seeking family details and informing them, to be fulfilled. As this itself takes about 24 hours, resulting in wastage of crucial time.
