Lucknow Governor Anandiben Patel inaugurated a freshly constructed building of the India Meteorological Department or IMD Meteorological Centre in the city on November 1.

While weather and climate influence so many aspects of our life, more resources are required for constant upgradation in the technology meant to control the same. And while weather hazards cannot be eradicated, the governor said, the damage can definitely be pruned with better planning and proper preparation. Natural calamities affect the livelihood, economy, and so much more.

Meteorologists' ceaseless efforts have helped minimise the consequences caused by these disasters with the right kind of information and alert-signals tackling the same, and the new weather station will proffer more space for such effective work and boost morale of the employees, scientists, and officers.
