A city-wide smart parking system will be rolled out in Lucknow soon, with the tender process already in motion. The detailed implementation plan has been submitted, as the government enforces the Construction, Monitoring and Management of Parking Spaces Regulations 2025.

According to Patrika, 73 parking spots in Lucknow have been identified in the first phase. These will be managed by successful bidders under five-year contracts.

The new system will include multiple advanced features, designed to simplify parking for residents:

• Automatic Barrier Systems: Automated entry and exit barriers will eliminate manual checks.

• Sensor-Based Parking: Sensors in each slot will display real-time occupancy, helping drivers locate free spaces easily.

• Digital Payments: QR code-enabled cashless payments will increase transparency.

• Mobile App Bookings: Drivers can reserve parking spots, track availability, and pay fees via a dedicated app.

• CCTV Surveillance: HD cameras will ensure safety check at all locations.

• Live Location Tracking: Drivers can view live parking availability on both app and web platforms.

The smart system is expected to improve traffic flow by reducing roadside parking congestion. Drivers will no longer need to circle aimlessly in search of parking, cutting both fuel consumption and pollution. Every phase of the rollout is being closely monitored to ensure timely completion and delivery.
