UP News | Skill training for prisoners in 60 trades going strong; Over 8k trained in one year

Prisoners are being trained in computer software, embroidery, wood art, and more.

In an attempt to assimilate the delinquents back into the society, Uttar Pradesh government has been providing skill training for prisoners. The training for UP prisoners is being given in nearly 60 different trades including computer software, embroidery, plumbing, wood art and motor binding, among others.

3,225 have received skill training in Meerut zone alone

Jails in Meerut zone have witnessed over 3,225 prisoners receiving the training, with 1,126 in Muzaffarnagar alone.

Furthermore, over a thousand prisoners received training in 20 selected trades within the Bareilly zone. Apart from that, hundreds of prisoners are being trained in Kanpur, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur zones, as well. It is noteworthy that the initiative is being taken under the Prime Minister Skill Development Programme.
