UP becomes self-reliant in fight against Covid-19; develops pharma & other resources locally

UP has been mobilising resources to meet the increasing demand and is now acting to produce them domestically.

The state of Uttar Pradesh has embarked upon a self-reliant route to fight against the threat of coronavirus. In view of the sudden spike of COVID-19, the state is striding rather swiftly to break the chain of infection and reduce its repercussions. Prepared to tackle the ugly rise of the pandemic, this time around, the state has developed medicines and equipment domestically to ensure that there is no shortage of resources, on any front. These facilities are also being transported to other states in the country.

Manufacturing units of VTM tubes boost medical infrastructure in UP

A pharma company in UP's Amroha started to manufacture hydroxychloroquine, which had a positive impact on the COVID-19 infection in several countries across the globe. The surging demands from across the world were met by India and an adequate quantity was catered by the state. That is how UP jumped into the mainstream of manufacturing medicines. Now, the drugs produced here are being sent to other Indian states, even to countries abroad.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh has been mobilising resources to meet this increasing demand and is now acting to produce them domestically. Licences have been given for the production of Viral Transport Medium (VTM) tubes in the state. It has to be noted here that there was not a single manufacturing unit of VTM tubes in the state prior to the pandemic outbreaks and were licensed to set up to meet the increased needs. The government gave licences for setting up manufacturing units in Noida, Ghaziabad and Lucknow for the production of VTM tubes. The VTM tube is used for Covid-19 testing. Now four manufacturing units have been permitted in the state.
