The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is developing plans for a new road to streamline the commute between Bandra West Station and the Western Express Highway (WEH). This plan, spanning a BEST plot, an SRA redevelopment area, and civic land, aims to ease traffic congestion at SV Road and Lucky Junction.

The proposal, initially part of the 1991-2011 Development Plan (DP) and included in the 2014-2034 DP, was revisited in a meeting between the municipal commissioner and Bandra West MLA.

New roads, sports complex, and improved traffic flow

Asif Zakaria, former corporator from Bandra H-West ward, emphasised the necessity of this project, highlighting that it would decongest SV Road and Lucky Junction. Urban planner Alan Abraham pointed out the design flaw in the missing connection between the Bandra flyover and the sea link, stressing the importance of redistributing traffic through new DP roads.

Residents and activists have welcomed the initiative, which promises to streamline connectivity and enhance local infrastructure. The plan requires approximately 1,347 sq mt of BEST depot land and 1,897 sq mt of civic garage plot. Additionally, the redevelopment of the SRA plot will facilitate this project.

Alongside the road project, other proposals discussed include a state-of-the-art sports complex at Sherly Rajan and a new road to Kadeshwari, aimed at reducing congestion at the Lilavati Junction. The maintenance of the Worker Welfare Centre in Parel was also addressed.
