Mumbai’s first Gym-on-Wheels for women has arrived, and it’s creating quite a buzz! This vibrant pink bus is offering homemakers and older women the chance to embrace fitness on their terms. Launched by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at Bandra’s Carter Road, in collaboration with DPC and Be the Change Foundation, this mobile gym is already serving 280 women, with over 100 daily users, said reports. With a 3-crore budget, BMC has plans for future expansion.

A gym for everyone!

The gym features a range of fitness equipment including treadmills, lat pulldowns, leg extensions, yoga balls, battle ropes, and dumbbells ranging from 1 to 10 kg. Among the users are women preparing for police recruitment and athletics, but the majority are homemakers, many of whom have never been to a gym before.

One remarkable member is 75-year-old Kalavati Suryarao, a domestic worker from Bandra, who is overcoming a frozen shoulder with her daily workouts.
