IIT Bombay receives ₹160 crore donation for Green Research Hub from anonymous alumnus

The donation is for establishing a Green Energy and Sustainability Research Hub.

In a rare occurrence, an alumnus of IIT Bombay, has donated a whopping ₹160 crore to the institute, while wanting to remain anonymous. This huge donation has been given to the institute to establish a new Green Energy and Sustainability Research Hub.

According to initial reports, the new research hub will come up at the IIT Bombay campus. Once up and running, it will focus on evaluating risks posed by climate change and innovating strategies to mitigate those risks.

This IIT Bombay research hub will facilitate research in a plethora of streams relating to sustainability. Some of these will include flood forecasting, biofuels, clean-air science, battery technologies, carbon capture, etc.
