As a festive season gift for Indians applying for immigrant visas for the United States, the US Consulate General Mumbai has finally cleared its backlog. The Consulate General released a statement on Tuesday, saying that all the backlog caused by Covid-19 has finally been eliminated.

Now, those seeking appointments for immigrant visas can get their interview scheduled within the usual time frame. It is noteworthy that the pandemic backlog had significantly increased the wait time for such interviews, which stretched as long as 2 years in some cases.

According to the statement, the consulate in Mumbai has already processed over 9 lakh Visa applications in 2023. At this pace, it will easily cross its goal of processing 1 million Visas in the current year.
