In view of the 2024 Lok Sabha Election 2024 vote counting, Mumbai Traffic Police announced significant traffic restrictions to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety. The counting centres are set up at Veterinary College and NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon East on the Western Express Highway. As a result, all private buses and heavy vehicles have been banned today, on Shankarwadi near Jogeshwari to Dahisar Check - from 6 AM to 7 PM.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mitesh Ghatte (Traffic, Western Suburbs) emphasised that these measures are essential to allow ballot boxes to reach the polling stations without hindrance. This move aims to alleviate congestion and ensure an orderly flow of traffic during this crucial period. The police have advised commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and adhere to the restrictions for a hassle-free experience.

Exemptions include essential service vehicles such as those providing vegetables, milk, bakery products, drinking water, petroleum products, ambulances, government and semi-government vehicles, and school buses.
