Maharashtra Monsoons: Downpour From June 18-22 to Sweep Through Mumbai & Nearby Areas

With the arrival of the southwest monsoon in Maharashtra, the weather is expected to change drastically this upcoming weekend. From June 18 to 22, 2023, Mumbai, Thane, Kolhapur, Pune, and other nearby areas are predicted to receive heavy to extremely heavy downpours.

Westerly Winds to bring rain to Maharashtra

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), westerly winds will bring rain to Maharashtra and its neighbouring states until June 22, and possibly beyond. Isolated heavy showers have been forecasted over the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra from Monday to Wednesday (June 20- June 22). The latest update by IMD suggests that Maharashtra may experience full monsoon coverage this weekend.

Detailed forecast from June 18-22 by IMD 

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued the following weather forecast:

June 18- Isolated heavy rainfall over Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.

June 19- Isolated heavy rains across Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg.

June 20- Isolated to very heavy rain showers over Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg; isolated heavy rains over Kolhapur, Satara and Palghar.

June 21- Heavy to extremely heavy rain showers over Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Sindhudurg, Raigad; heavy rainfall in Satara, Pune and Kolhapur.
