The 150-year-old Carnac Bridge, demolished in 2022, is entering a critical reconstruction phase this weekend. The Central Railway (CR) and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will launch girders for the new Carnac Road Over Bridge (ROB), requiring two back-to-back mega blocks starting tonight at 12, lasting six hours. During this time, train services between Byculla/Wadala and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) will be suspended, affecting local and long-distance trains.

The bridge is now expected to be completed before the next monsoon, following delays and increased traffic congestion in nearby areas.
