Mumbai is experiencing rising temperatures and high humidity levels, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting clear skies followed by light drizzles and thunderstorms next week. Humidity levels are nearing 100%, making conditions warm and sticky.

Weather forecast for the coming days

  • On 29 March, Mumbai will experience clear skies, with temperatures ranging between 23°C and 33°C.

  • A spell of light drizzles and thundershowers is expected on April 1 and 2 in Mumbai and the surrounding areas.

  • IMD has issued a yellow alert for Thane and Raigad due to expected thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) in isolated areas.

  • Post this rainy spell, maximum temperatures are expected to drop to 33°C after 2 April, bringing slight relief from the heat.

Pre-monsoon showers: Not uncommon for Mumbai

While summer showers are unusual, Mumbai has seen pre-monsoon rains in past years. In March 2023, the city recorded 17 mm of rainfall, marking its wettest March on record. The upcoming showers may provide temporary relief from the rising temperatures.

Residents are advised to plan accordingly for the shifting weather, from hot and humid conditions to the possibility of rain early next week.
