As Mumbai prepares to usher in 2025 with vibrant New Year’s Eve celebrations, the city’s railways have stepped up to ensure smooth and safe travel for revellers. To accommodate the late-night festivities, 12 special suburban train services will operate across key routes.
These late-night trains, running on December 31, 2024, and into the early hours of January 1, 2025, will halt at all suburban stations to provide maximum convenience for passengers.
Western Railway will operate the majority of these special services, with eight trains running between Churchgate and Virar stations. These include four Virar-bound departures from Churchgate (1:15 AM, 2:00 AM, 2:30 AM, and 3:25 AM) and four return services from Virar (12:15 AM, 12:45 AM, 1:40 AM, and 3:05 AM). All trains will make stops at every station along the route.
Complementing these services, Central Railway will run four additional trains, with services between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kalyan on the main line, as well as between CSMT and Panvel on the Harbour Line. These trains are scheduled to depart at 1:30 AM.
These special trains aim to provide hassle-free travel for thousands expected to flock to iconic spots like Marine Drive and Bandra Bandstand for celebrations. Passengers are encouraged to check schedules in advance and follow safety guidelines. With these arrangements, Mumbai is all set to welcome 2025 with seamless festivities and excitement!
