Mumbai Metro 3 BKC-Colaba to be fully operational by May 2025 | Know details

Work on the second and third phases of Metro 3, connecting Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Colaba, is underway and is set to be completed by May 2025, said recent reports. The rapid progress of these phases is now in its final stages.

The first phase, covering the stretch from Aarey JVLR to Bandra-Kurla Complex, was completed and launched on October 5, 2024. The second phase extends from BKC to Worli, while the third phase will link Worli to Colaba. Once fully operational, the entire Metro 3 line is expected to cater to around 17 lakh passengers daily.

Funding of Mumbai Metro Line 3

The Mumbai Metro Line 3 also known as Aqua Line, is being built in three phases. The total cost of the project is approximately ₹30,000 crore which is being funded by five major groups including Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL), China Railway Group Limited (CREC), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Padeco and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
