The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is set to expand its Metro Line 3 service with the opening of the BKC-Acharya Atre Chowk, Worli section (Phase 2A) by late March 2025. The expansion, which is part of the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro 3 route, has reached 93.1% completion, with station work at 98.9% completion.

This development follows the successful launch of the 12-kilometer Aarey-BKC section in October 2024. While the current operational section has seen lower-than-expected ridership, officials anticipate a significant increase once the entire Aarey-Colaba route is operational. The state government has recently directed MMRC to complete the BKC-Worli phase within 100 days, with system work currently at 85.8% completion.

The entire 33.5 km Aqua Line is set to transform the city’s public transport landscape. The final steps include completing the remaining architectural details and obtaining necessary safety certificates before opening to the public. This expansion marks a crucial step in connecting Mumbai's major commercial hubs and improving the city's public transportation network.
