Mumbai Metro Lines 7 (Red Line) and 2A (Yellow Line) have received safety certification from the Chief Commissioner of Rail Safety, enabling full-speed operations at 80 km/h. These lines, covering 18.6 km and 16.5 km respectively, serve over 2.5 lakh daily passengers. With advanced tech like driverless-capable trains and CBTC signalling, these lines are part of MMRDA's vision to improve Mumbai's transport network.

Mumbai Metro Line 2B, connecting D N Nagar in Andheri to Mandale in Mankhurd, will link key areas like Andheri, Bandra, Chembur, and Mankhurd. With 78% of civil work completed, the 23.6 km line will serve 10 lakh daily passengers. The project is expected to be completed in phases, with the first phase in 2026. Mumbai Metro Line 12 (Orange Line), spanning 22.17 km with 19 stations, will connect Kalyan, Dombivli, and Taloja, reducing travel time by 45 minutes and easing road congestion. Mumbai’s Metro Line 3, running from Aarey Colony to BKC, has seen disappointing ridership, averaging just 20,000 daily users—far from the projected 1.3 million. Factors like poor connectivity, high fares, and lack of last-mile options are hindering commuter adoption.
