The BMC has issued a warning about the impending high tides in Mumbai, over the next few months during monsoon. Anticipating 22 high tides surging above 4.5 meters, the city is bracing for potential flooding - scheduled between June and September 2024.

June will witness seven days of high tides, followed by four in July, five in August, and six in September. The apex is forecasted for September 20 at 1:03 am, with tides reaching a staggering 4.84 meters. Concerns escalate as the looming threat of excessive rainfall during the monsoon season poses significant risks to Mumbai and surrounding areas.

Notably, heavy rains coincide with high tides, inundating low-lying areas and exacerbating flooding woes, leading to various health hazards. Mumbai's civic body advises strict adherence to guidelines while visiting beaches during the monsoon, emphasising public safety and preparedness.
