Mumbai's Eid-e-Milad holiday officially rescheduled to September 8

This avoids a clash with Anant Chaturdashi on Sept 6.

In a proactive move to ensure peaceful celebrations, the Maharashtra government has rescheduled the Eid-e-Milad public holiday in Mumbai from September 5 to September 8, 2025. This decision, made after consultations with Muslim community leaders, aims to avoid a clash with Anant Chaturdashi, a major day for Ganesh idol immersions on September 6.

The shift is intended to ease pressure on civic resources and police, while promoting communal harmony. While the rest of Maharashtra will observe the holiday on the original date, Mumbai will celebrate on Monday, September 8, allowing both festivals to be observed smoothly and safely.
