Mumbai’s Nair Hospital Dental College crowned 'Best in Asia' by Pierre Fauchard Academy, US

BMC-run Nair Hospital Dental College in Mumbai has been awarded the ‘Best International Dental Hospital’ by the US-based Pierre Fauchard Academy, under the category of ‘Best Dental Hospital in Asia’. The recognition was presented at a global dental health conference held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Dr Neelam Andrade, former Dean and current Medical Director at BMC, received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her outstanding contributions to dental health in Asia. Dr Andrade has had a 46-year-long association with the institution, beginning as a student in 1979.

Recognised by a global authority in dentistry

Founded in 1936, Pierre Fauchard Academy is named after the father of modern dentistry. The Academy is known for recognising exceptional contributions in dental science worldwide, honouring both individuals and institutions committed to advancing oral healthcare.

The legacy 

Established in 1933, Nair Hospital Dental College is the second oldest dental college in India. Located in Mumbai Central, it currently operates with 25 hospital beds and 300 dental treatment chairs, treating approximately 1,000 to 1,200 patients daily, and nearly 3.5 lakh patients annually.
