The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has unveiled plans for a transformative ₹1,100-crore elevated corridor project connecting the Mumbai Trans Harbour Sealink (MTHL) with the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, scheduled for completion by February 2027.

This ₹1,100-crore project includes two key elevated corridors—one from Chirle to Gavan Phata and another from Palaspe Phata to the expressway. Designed to ease congestion, particularly on NH-348, which carries heavy container traffic from JNPT, the corridor promises smoother and faster travel.

Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, MMRDA’s Metropolitan Commissioner, called the project transformative, stating that it will improve regional connectivity and economic growth. The seamless link between Mumbai and Pune will not only cut down travel time but also make it easier for professionals to work in Mumbai while residing in Pune.

Currently, excavation work is underway, with the corridors spanning 4,958 metres in Chirle and 1,700 metres in Palaspe. This ambitious project is expected to boost regional connectivity, reduce travel time, and spur economic growth, solidifying Maharashtra’s position as an economic powerhouse.
