Mumbai Police has enforced a ban on the assembly of five or more people across the city from January 9 to 23, citing concerns over potential disturbances to public peace. The prohibitory orders, effective from midnight on January 9, will continue until the same time on January 23.

The order, described as a routine measure with no specific intelligence inputs, seeks to prevent the breach of peace. It prohibits gatherings, processions, and the use of loudspeakers, musical bands, or firecrackers, according to a report by The Hindu.

However, the ban exempts assemblies for weddings, funerals, cooperative societies, social associations, companies, and government-related events. The move, aimed at maintaining tranquillity in the city, underscores the importance of adhering to public safety protocols during the restricted period.
