Second phase of Mumbai Coastal Road between Worli and Marine Drive to be operational by June 10

The southbound tunnel faced issues related to leakages at 2-3 expansion joints.

The second phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project, connecting Worli and Marine Drive, will be open to traffic by June 10, as per reports. Further, on May 28, officials inspected the southbound tunnel at Marine Drive, a part of the first phase inaugurated in March, to address issues related to leakages at two to three expansion joints.

Repair work will not disrupt traffic flow

Reportedly, the leaks would be fixed using polymer grouting, and it is also suggested that such polymer content should be applied to all 25 joints on each side of the tunnel to prevent future seepage, especially during the monsoon season. It is also stated that the repair work will not disrupt traffic flow, ensuring motorists face no inconvenience. This comes as part of efforts to maintain the coastal road's integrity and usability.

The coastal road project is a significant infrastructure development aimed at easing traffic congestion in Mumbai, enhancing connectivity between key areas of the city.
