In 16 months, more than 6.3 million passengers used the facility, with usage climbing from 12% in April 2024 to 32% by August 2025. The system enables travellers to clear checkpoints within two to three seconds, supported by 46 e-gates and 40 face pods.

Domestic carriers lead digital boarding

Domestic airlines accounted for the majority of DigiYatra usage:

  • IndiGo: 2.58 million boarding passes

  • Air India: 1.09 million

  • Air India Express: 53,301

International carriers also recorded strong adoption, led by Air France (90,902), Emirates (18,356), and Lufthansa (18,017).

Growth in self-baggage drop

The use of self-baggage drop (SBD) machines has expanded significantly. More than 715,000 bags were processed through 32 SBD units, with an average handling time of 17–20 seconds. Domestic airlines managed nearly 600,000 bags, while international carriers such as KLM, Air France, Emirates, Lufthansa, and Swiss Airways processed over 70,000.

  • SBD adoption by international flyers grew from 4.15% to 13.9% between April 2024 and August 2025.

  • Domestic usage rose from 5.26% to 6.28% over the same period.

Tech powered operations

The surge in self-service travel is supported by CSMIA’s upgraded Airport Operation Command Centre (AOCC) and aviio, an AI-driven platform by Adani Airports that enhances predictive analytics and real-time efficiency.

Other initiatives include autonomous cleaning robots, with plans for smart washrooms and additional AI-led solutions across terminals.
