The Mumbai Coastal Road project will now be extended up to Bhayander in Thane, a significant leap from its original route between Marine Lines and Kandivali. This extension will cover the entire western sea-facing stretch of Mumbai. With a price tag of approximately ₹14,000 crore, this ambitious extension will connect directly with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time across the city.

Reportedly, the construction work will be divided into four to five packages. Discussions with the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Departments officials to secure the necessary approvals are already in the pipeline. A report on the extended stretch is expected to be ready by August 23.

Authorities alsp plan to involve the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) as a consultant and Tata Group to share their operational and research reports on Mumbai’s traffic situation.
