The Goa Directorate of fire and emergency services has crafted a set of apps which will employ interactive and upgrade user-friendly provision to prepare citizens to tackle real-life incidents borne out of fire, natural calamities and other such emergencies. Besides this, the department has also launched a Fire Safety Virtual Reality Simulator which umbrellas earthquake, floods etc. As per reports, the simulator activities are motion-sensitive to enable provisions of self-guiding programming, in addition to an efficient tablet control system.
Integrated user-behaviour analysis to help train workforce
The director of Goa’s fire emergency department highlighted the imperative need to engage people in today’s contemporary age to boost learning and this app is a solution to just that! Its interactive and easy to use system has been made compatible for several screens which will expand its reach to a widened target, he stated.
Inspiring people through its fun, hands-on immersive and technologically advanced learning environment, this application will help train civic response to tackle unwarranted scenarios. Working both ways, the VR-simulators will also help to train the workforce by means of integrated user-behaviour analysis, the official stated.
Safety education van to spread the world in rural regions
The directorate has also made provisions to unify the VR simulators in the state-of-the-art and safety education vans which have made a mark in inducting awareness campaigns across panchayats and residential areas. This will also ensure the participation and interest of students in programmes of disaster preparedness and basic fire safety.
The training modules will encapsulate several scenarios, including safety while cooking, fire safety among children, during evacuation and rules of conduct in case of a fire alarm. This will also teach people to use different kind of fire extinguishers, including portable, first aid and others.
Besides this, the fire department website has been upgraded with the latest responsive content to ease both, accessibility and engagement via multiple devices. Navigation and indexing have also been simplified to reveal content in a single click. Additionally, content accessibly will now be updated to provide real-time information through automated systems.
