The district administration of Indore is preparing to set up drive-in vaccination centres across Indore for the 45+ age group. A total of 6 such drive-in centres will be coming up in the city to thwart the second surge of covid infections through immunisation. Eligible beneficiaries will be sent into dedicated lanes depending upon their type of transport (four-wheeler or two-wheeler) and computerised receipts will be used to keep a track of the observation time.

RTPCR test centres to be used as drive-in vax centres

Preparations are in full swing to set up drive-in vaccination centres for the 45+ age group in Indore, which will be coming up at Tejaji Nagar, Chiman Bagh, MR 9 Road and VIP Road. Apart from these places, 2 existing drive-in RTPCR test centres at Dussehra Maidan and Nehru Stadium will also be used as drive-in vaccination centres.

Three of the above-mentioned sites were surveyed and approved by the District Collector, Municipal Commissioner and local representatives, on Sunday. These drive-in vaccination centres are set to be launched in the coming 2-3 days and will be speeding up the process of inoculation among the eligible beneficiaries.

The know-how of drive-in vaccination centres

People belonging to the 45+ age group will have to register themselves at the government’s online portal and book a slot before they can get their vaccine jabs at the drive-in centres. Eligible beneficiaries can get vaccine jabs without exiting their vehicles. For individuals driving cars, a one-way entry/exit lane is being set up to ensure that the entire process is hassle-free.

Apart from dedicated lanes for four-wheelers and two-wheelers, an observation room will also be set up so that the medical staff can meet the requirement of observing individuals for 30 minutes, post-immunisation. Further, the computerised receipts will be used to keep a track of the observation time of each beneficiary, read reports.
