In a bid to solidify Indore’s status as the cleanest Indian city, the civic authority has now announced that it will be filing an FIR against miscreants caught polluting the environment or dirtying the roads and walls. While Indore’s municipal corporation has taken up the task of beautification of the city under the ambit of Cleanliness Survey 2021, it also has to devise effective means to sustain and keep-safe Indore’s public property.
Indore to guard its ‘clean’ identity
Civic authority in Indore has jumped headfirst to bring alive the vision of claiming the title of Swachh Survekshan 2021 and at the same time, has also decided to pay attention to the viability of the programmes and events launched under it. While the city’s primary focus remains on revamping city walls with colouring and painting, it has also observed a destructive trend due to some anti-social elements in the society.
As a result, Indore will now penalise all notorious people who stick bills, posters, banners and pamphlets on city walls and file an FIR against them under the Madhya Pradesh Sampatti Virupan Nivaran Adhiniyam, 1994. Similar actions will also be taken against people who hamper the city’s brand identity of cleanliness, in any other form, such as dirtying the roads.
During an inspection in Indore’s Vijay Nagar Area, the Municipal Commissioner instructed officials to take action against those putting up advertisements and posters on electric poles and green belts on the roadside and footpaths. An FIR has been lodged in the Vijayanagar police station in this regard by Area Supervisor.
