Indore is the first district in India, with a 10 lakh+ population, to have achieved 100% coverage of first COVID dose. So far, around 40.7 lakh vaccination doses have been administered here, since January 2021. This includes as many as 28 lakh first doses and 12.2 lakh second jabs that suggest around 40% of Indore's eligible population has received both doses of the COVID vaccination.

The large-scale inoculation programme has been set-up in the city to cover the remaining 60% beneficiaries, with a vision to make Indore a fully vaccinated district soon. In line with Indore's mega vaccination project, launched in June 2021, this scheme aims to encourage people to get the secondary jab on time.

Around 4 lakh people were provided with the first dose of the Covishield vaccine in June, who have recently completed their stipulated 84-day waiting period. Now this mega-vaccination drive will enable them to get the second dose easily. The District Collector has announced instructions regarding the project and has urged people to get full vaccination as soon as they can.

As per Dr. Tarun Gupta, the campaign aims to provide 1.62 lakh doses as second doses in Indore on Friday. At this scale, the district hopes to administer the vaccination shot to around 3.50 lakh people in the coming week. The immunity drive has also been opened up for pregnant women and about 12 thousand such beneficiaries have been given the first dose here, read reports.
